WYDOT will add better signs for brake checks and runaway ramps on the Pass starting September 21. The move follows several fatal wrecks but stops short of banning specific vehicle types.

WYDOT is adding these warnings after three major accidents on the eastern descent in Jackson resulted in three deaths over just two months. The Make Teton Pass Safer coalition formed in response to these crashes to lobby for stricter rules, but the state is currently declining their request for a temporary ban on certain heavy vehicle types. Work on the new signage and safety notices is scheduled to begin September 21.
