Park biologists are trapping black and grizzly bears for research through October 31. Areas with active traps are closed to the public and marked with bright signs.

Biologists will use natural bait like road-killed elk to lure bears into culvert traps located away from trails and campsites. While the focus is on black bears, any grizzlies caught will be handled to help the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team monitor species recovery. Make sure to watch for bright warning signs and stay clear of posted closure areas for your safety.
