The permit process allows local officers and school staff to verify that students are riding appropriate bike classes and have functional brakes, bells, and helmets. So far, 172 students have registered their e-bikes under the new system at Jackson Hole Middle School. The initiative is a collaboration between the school district, Friends of Pathways, and local law enforcement to improve safety on the town pathways.
