It will soon be illegal to drive a large vehicle, RV or trailer over Teton Pass without a permission slip from the state.  WYDOT Director Darin Westby said the “Safe Pass” self-certification for mountain driving will be permanent in a few weeks.

Transportation officials created the "Safe Pass" self-certification program following three fatal crashes on a specific one-mile stretch of the highway near Wilson this summer. While 8,000 cars travel the pass daily, the new requirement targets large vehicles and trailers to address dangerous driving behaviors. Jackson drivers can expect the first-in-the-nation mandate to become permanent in the coming weeks.
