Grand Teton National Park staff euthanized a black bear near Delta Lake Friday. The animal was killed after visitors repeatedly left food unattended, causing the bear to become dangerously comfortable around people.

Park officials determined the bear posed a safety risk after it received multiple food rewards and became increasingly difficult to haze away from visitors. The animal was euthanized on site at Delta Lake because the remote backcountry location made removal difficult, and the carcass was flown out the following morning. This situation serves as a reminder to never leave food unattended or approach wildlife, as these human actions directly led to the bear being lethally removed.
