Duane Betts discusses his new album and using his late father’s instruments to honor the legacy of the Allman Brothers guitarist.
Duane Betts is currently preparing for a multi-year tour supporting his new album, Isle of Hope, which he wrote following the death of his father, Allman Brothers legend Dickey Betts. Speaking from a summer home in Jackson, the guitarist discussed using his father’s 1961 Gibson ES-335 to record songs that balance Southern rock roots with universal themes of loss. The record, produced by Dave Cobb, features Betts playing more acoustic parts than on previous projects while fronting a band that includes fellow Allman Brothers heir Devon Allman.
