Yellowstone is lifting most of the temporary fishing restrictions that were put in place this summer to protect fish from heat and low water levels. While most rivers and streams are back to sunrise-to-sunset hours, full closures remain in effect on the Madison, Firehole, and Gibbon rivers because geothermal activity keeps those waters warmer. If you are heading up from Jackson, keep an eye on the forecast as park officials will reinstate restrictions if temperatures spike again.
