We’re in the heart of rodeo season and here is some Montana rodeo history for you! Fannie Sperry Steele was a world-champion bronc rider and licensed hunting guide from Montana. Her career spanned decades of rodeo competition and ranching, earning her a spot in the state's gallery of distinguished citizens.

Fannie Sperry Steele was a world-champion bronc rider who started her professional career as a relay racer at the 1904 Montana State Fair. Outside of the arena, she was the first woman in the state to earn a packer’s license for mountain hunting trips and managed her family ranch in Helmville until she was 78. She is currently recognized in the Gallery of Outstanding Montanans at the state capitol.
