The Gallatin Valley Land Trust just wrapped up its 11th annual Summer Trails Challenge in June, with a record 1,436 people logging more than 125,000 miles on local trails. This community effort unlocked $100,000 in matching funds from local sponsors to help maintain the Main Street to the Mountains system. While folks in Jackson have similar land trust programs, this Bozeman-based event shows how much a neighbor community is getting behind trail conservation for both hikers and bikers.
