Monday marks the 75th anniversary of the 1959 Hebgen Lake earthquake. The Custer Gallatin National Forest will host talks and walks at the visitor center to discuss the landslide and landscape changes.

The 7.5 magnitude quake significantly altered the regional landscape, triggering nearly 300 new geyser eruptions and changing the schedule of Old Faithful. The Custer Gallatin National Forest is hosting commemorative walks and talks at the Earthquake Lake Visitor Center throughout the weekend and on Monday. Visitors can view the mountain slide, explore exhibits supported by Yellowstone Forever, and earn a Junior Ranger Geology badge.
