    Yellowstone officials are lifting the heat-related afternoon fishing bans on most park waters starting August 12. While most spots are back to regular hours, the Madison, Firehole, and lower Gibbon rivers remain fully closed because geothermal activity keeps those waters dangerously warm for trout. If you are heading up from Jackson to fish, park rangers still suggest sticking to the mornings and landing fish quickly to keep the stress off the local population.
